How we handle your data
Eat by VoiceBit is an online marketplace that connects you with independent restaurants. We try to collect as little personal data as possible and to be honest about what we do collect. This page explains it in plain English.
Browsing the marketplace
You can browse restaurants and menus on eat.voicebit.ai without an account. We do not require login, we do not load advertising tracking pixels, and we do not set marketing cookies on our own domain. Only essential cookies needed to make the site work are used.
Anonymous carts on agent surfaces
When you build an order through the ChatGPT App or another MCP-connected agent (for example Claude Desktop), our server generates a random cart_id — a UUID that is not tied to your name, account, or device. We store the contents of that cart (items, sizes, modifiers) against this opaque id in our agent_carts table. No identity is attached while you are still building the order.
The cart id has a 24-hour sliding-window expiry: each time you touch the cart the timer resets, and once the cart is idle for 24 hours its row is deleted. Carts are also deleted as soon as you place the order through submit_order.
What we collect when you place an order
To actually send your order to a restaurant we need a small amount of information from you at submit time:
- Customer name
- Customer phone number (10 digits or more)
- Service method — pickup, delivery, dine-in, or curbside — and a delivery address if you choose delivery
- Whether the order is for ASAP or scheduled, and the scheduled date and time if applicable
- Vehicle make and color, only if you choose curbside pickup
- Optional free-text notes for the kitchen
Who we share your information with
The restaurant fulfilling your order
The restaurant receives your name, phone number, the items you ordered, the service method, and any notes — they need this to prepare your food and, if applicable, deliver it. If you chose delivery they also receive the delivery address.
Our ordering backend
The full order is sent to api.voicebit.ai, our own infrastructure, for kitchen routing, SMS confirmations, and POS integration.
Our payment processor
Card payments are handled by Stripe Connect on checkout.voicebit.ai. Stripe is the merchant of record for card data. VoiceBit never stores card numbers, CVCs, or full payment details.
Nobody else
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not share it with marketers or advertisers. We do not run advertising tracking pixels.
Analytics and operations
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics (event-level usage metrics with no PII attached). Used to improve the experience. Self-hosted on
us.i.posthog.com. - Sentry — error monitoring. Captures runtime errors with stack traces, IP address, and User-Agent. Configured to scrub PII from error contexts. Retention is capped.
- Vercel — hosting and OIDC. Receives standard server-side request logs (IP, path, status code) per Vercel’s policy.
How long we keep data
- Cart rows in
agent_cartsauto-expire 24 hours after last activity and are deleted aftersubmit_order. There is no long-term cart retention. - Order records persist in our ordering backend for legal and financial record-keeping purposes — typical merchant retention is around seven years.
- Sentry and PostHog follow standard retention windows (90 days and one year respectively).
Your rights
To request deletion of your records, email support@voicebit.ai from any address and include the phone number you used to place orders. We will remove your records, subject to any legal retention obligations we have as a merchant.
We comply with applicable privacy laws in your jurisdiction, including CCPA where it applies. The marketplace currently serves the United States only — users in the EU/EEA are not in scope at this time.
Children
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. The marketplace is intended for adults placing food orders.
Changes to this policy
When we make material changes to how we handle data, we will update this page and bump the “last updated” date below. Continued use of the marketplace after a change means you accept the updated policy.
